Hi Branch, this is Boris volunteering w/ Beto O'Rourke's campaign for U.S. Senate. The election is coming up in November and we're texting Texas voters to see who they plan on voting for. Will you be voting for Beto O'Rourke or Ted Cruz?

Probably neither but here's your chance. Why should I vote for Beto?

Here is some information about Beto: Beto O'Rourke is a candidate running for Senate in 2018. He represents Texas in the U.S. House of Representatives. You can read more: https://betofortexas.com/issues/ Please let me know if you have any questions about his platform.
My personal answer (not from the campaign): (1) Beto positions are good and beneficial for everybody (2) The "term limit for Congresspeople" idea is good and Beto supports it (3) The "no money from PACs" idea is good and Beto supports it
As you probably know, PACs have no limits for donations (could be in billions). Personal donations are limited -- no more than $2,700 per a cycle.

Ok looking at the website, the majority of the points are good. Term limits on Congress is excellent. Education as well. Immigration and healthcare sound like higher taxes. The government gets too much of my money already. The problem is the government won't fix its budget to pay for the things it wants. If they can cut in other areas to pay for it, then that's great. The deal breaker here is Beto's views on gun rights. Banning high capacity magazines and ARs will only keep them out of the hands of people who obey the law in the same way that the lock on my door only keeps my friends out. God forbid if someone attacks myself or my family, I will not be at a disadvantage because the law says I can't own a certain weapon that would give me a fighting chance.

I understand your point. So, why I cannot just order a tank via Amazon? Bad people have their tank, and they can attack me using those tanks, correct?

AR-15 is not a fighting chance against F-16, or I miss something?
There's already a law that any caliber above a .50 BMG is illegal.
That is my point exactly! You do not expect that somebody is going to use F-16 against you. Why? They are prohibited!
The same is true for AR-15. If anybody can just get it, you have to get it as well, otherwise, you have no chance.
If they are not allowed, eventually nobody can get them.

I know about guns almost nothing, but your logic about fighting chances looks strange to me...

Kinda ironic you used F-16s as an example. I'm building F-16 parts as we speak.
:)
F-16 is a good balance for AR-15
It doesn't matter if you outlaw them. Somebody will always get them. On top of that I could build a tank if I wanted to. They're not complicated.

You cannot register your tank
You cannot get ammunition

Ammunition is not hard to make. It wouldn't be nearly as effective as what the army uses but it would work.
And note that you are pretty damn sure that nobody is going to attack you using his tank
A tank gun is literally a long piece of steel pipe.
It has happened before

I understand that it is not complicated. But I am not afraid of tanks at all.
I cannot say the same about AR-15.

I'm not afraid of AR-15s but I am potentially afraid of a crazy person with one. Which is I'm ok with background checks and closing the loopholes. As are most people I talk to.

Well, I am even OK with AR-15 for people who fight against wild pigs (I have heard they need exactly AR-15). But AR-15 should not be as accessible as my router from Amazon. That is crazy!

The problem with "background checks and closing the loopholes" is the "slippery slope" NRA theory: If we give them that, the next day they will take away our forks too.
